As if we weren't already giddy enough over the Toyota FT-86, this truly awesome AE86 Trueno-inspired model appeared as the G Sports Turbo Concept at the Tokyo Auto Salon.

Most details of this car are vague other than mentioning it has a horizontally-opposed 2.0-liter turbo engine with rear-wheel drive and a six-speed manual. The white paint job and the carbon fiber black hood clearly hint at the AE86, though the name seems more like the GT-S

Here is what our friend Ian had to say

Well... this is it guys. The it passed the house last week, it's going to vote in the senate on Wednesday, so far, there are no motions to override, so it should go smoothly. We'll know if it's law by Wednesday. Fingers crossed!

Now, on to the details.
tC, xA, xD owners. According to the law, you will be allowed to tint 35% all around, or up to 30% in back and 50% up front, or as dark as you want in back with nothing up front.

1st and 2nd gen xB owners... unfortunately, due to the stock privacy glass, we fall under the SUV/MPV category. That means that we're limited to 50% up front. Now, before anyone says that we're registered as a standard car, yes, that is true, however, I got in touch with one of my people at Toyota corp and they were able to confirm that the stock privacy glass is darkened to 20%. So yea, 50% is as dark as we can go up front.

I'm thinking I'll do 50% up front and a windshield strip at 20%. Should darken the car enough.

And before anyone says 'screw it, I'm gonna go 5% anyway', don't be a douche. This law is one of the most lenient out there, play by the rules here.
